Panasonic HCX900M Manual User Guide

Panasonic HCX900M Manual User Guide  - For the last couple of years, Panasonic's top-end camcorders have garnered a number of our top accolades, including Best Camcorder for the HDC-TM900 in our 2011 annual awards. So we were very keen to get our hands on a new premium Panasonic, particularly as this generation has been marked by a switch in the model naming system. So is the HC-X900 really a big step over its predecessor?

In some ways the answer is actually no. There isn't a monumental shift in core technology or design here. The HC-X900 ostensibly uses a very similar trio of 1/4.1in CMOS sensors with 3.05Mpixels each as the HDC-TM900, although the green sensor incorporates pixel shift technology to enhance its resolution. Video is recorded to SDXC card only, as there is no internal memory included. You will need the HC-X900M if you want that. The single card slot will make total capacity less than models offering twin slots, such as Canon's LEGRIA HF G10, but having up to 64GB available in SDXC form will be enough for most situations.

Another feature which hasn't changed is the level of manual control. Like all of Panasonic's last few premium generations, the X900 offers a lens ring that provides rapid access to the most oft-used manual settings. In auto mode, the ring merely offers an alternative, but slower and more precise, zoom control. However, a quick press of the button nearby switches the camera to manual mode, and cycles functions through manual focus, shutter speed, iris and white balance.

Motorola RAZR i User Manual

Motorola RAZR i User Manual - Eight years ago, when the Android 4.0, Intel inside-toting Razr i wasn't even a glint in Motorola's eye, something revolutionary happened in phone land. Motorola launched the Razr line.

This was a time when Nokia ruled the phone world; an age where Ericsson and Motorola were the other big boys, Samsung was a bit of an also-ran trying to compete but struggling, and Apple... well, it had not long launched the iPod, which "put 1,000 songs in your pocket."

Indeed, Apple teamed up with Motorola to launch the first iTunes enabled phone, the ROKR (which was a dismal failure) before deciding that it could do the whole thing better itself.

Apple's iPhone line has now arguably become the most successful of all time - five million iPhone 5 handsets sold in the first three days. Which puts Motorola's 130m Razrs in four years into perspective.

Motorola's Razr line never really died. It just fell into a coma, with the occasional slumber of consciousness across various iterations. And now, under the ownership (although, perhaps not the hands-on stewardship) of parent company Google, the Razr is being given another more high profile outing.

HTC Desire X Manual User Guide

HTC Desire X Manual User Guide - While HTC's Desire brand was originally attached to premium smartphones, these days Desire-branded handsets have a distinctly mid-range feel. The Desire X inhabits the crowded sub-£200 SIM-free market, so we were interested to see how it would stand out.

First impressions are, thankfully, good. The Desire X is a smart phone. It's slim and light with a pleasing curved shape, and our review model was the classy white and silver version. We didn't like bending and prying the rear cover off to fit the SIM card and microSD, but it's not like you have to open your phone very often.

We were impressed with the Desire X's screen. It's a 4in model with an 800x480 resolution, and the screen's high contrast makes the phone pleasant to use. HTC has modified Android heavily with its Sense interface, and the customisations tend to polarise opinion. Comparing the Desire X side-by-side with a phone running a stock version of Android 4.0, we felt Sense added to the experience. The replacement icons are big, colourful and detailed, and the main apps screen has buttons to show all your apps or filter them by most frequently used or just those you have installed yourself. The phone has around 950MB free to install apps, and if you add a microSD card you can use a dedicated app to move programs to the memory card and free up internal storage.

Asus Transformer Pad Infinity TF700T Manual

Asus Transformer Pad Infinity TF700T Manual - We've always had a lot of time for Asus' Transformer Pad range, with both the original Transformer and the more recent Asus Transformer Prime getting a positive reception. We first saw the new Transformer Pad Infinity at MWC in March and marvelled at its then incredible 1,920x1,200 resolution display. That, though, was two weeks before Apple launched its new 2,048×1,536 iPad and redefined the kind of resolution we expect from a tablet.

Since then, and just pipping Asus to the punch, we've also seen the Acer Iconia Tab A700, which has the same display resolution.

Its screen resolution may no longer be ground-breaking then, but the Transformer Pad Infinity 700 is rather different from those two devices. This is because of its keyboard dock, which turns the tablet into a small laptop. We bemoaned the lack of a tablet-only option with recent Transformer devices, but we have been able to find this one dock-free online. Because of this we'll be reviewing the 32GB tablet standalone at £450, before adding our thoughts on the dock at the end.
